As we approach the one-year mark in our consultancy assignment with NATO’s Communication and Information Agency (NCIA), we can positively reflect on the transformative journey we have undertaken together to achieve Business Process Excellence at NCIA.
Tasked with supporting an ambitious objective of becoming a ‘Centre for Business Process Excellence’, NCIA asked us to help improve the end-to-end value streams critical to their operations using our Rapid Improvement Event Methodology.
Bourton Group has successfully implemented this methodology with numerous clients across various industries. This approach drives an organisation’s operational excellence to new heights, empowering teams, achieving quick wins, and building a sustainable culture of continuous improvement.
From the outset, it was clear NATO’s Communications and Information Agency’s (NCIA) commitment to “Excellence in Delivery” was more than just a slogan—it was a strategic imperative, due to an expected five-fold increase in workload over the next few years.
In an organisation where seamless communication and information management are essential for global security, we quickly identified the need for a more Radical Performance Improvement Approach.
The existing way of doing things was no longer sufficient to meet the challenges or opportunities, and a larger transformative change was needed to achieve substantial operational improvement.
Our role has been identifying areas where value streams and processes can be streamlined, made more efficient, and aligned with best practices in business process management.
The past year has been both challenging and rewarding, giving us a fantastic opportunity to once again deploy our expertise within a complex, multinational organisation like NCIA.
Due to the sensitive and confidential nature of our client’s environment we cannot disclose specific numbers, percentages, or detailed metrics related to value stream improvements.
But can report examples of:
Feedback from stakeholders and sponsors is extremely encouraging with Wiebe Nauta COO, commenting recently in an internal communication.
“It makes me extremely proud of what the teams have achieved so far. As with all change and improvement initiatives, none of this happens without significant collaboration and effort. My thanks go to the team from Bourton Group who have brought the external perspective and challenged us to remove waste and radically redesign our processes.”
This past year Bourton’s teams of experts and NCIA specialists have worked closely to make the strategic vision happen and drive forward their relentless pursuit of excellence.
We are very excited about the joint opportunities that lie ahead as the groundwork laid over the past year has positioned NCIA to make even greater strides in its journey toward ‘Excellence in Delivery’.
