Course Summary

We are pleased to be able to offer our Lean Implementation Leader Programme as a fully endorsed award through the ILM. Through completing the Bourton Group facilitated programme and successfully applying the learning to implementing a Lean project, delegates will receive a certificate endorsed by the ILM.

Course Objectives

By the end of the workshops delegates will be able to:

  • Fully understand the principles and benefits of lean ways of working
  • Develop teams as lean teams
  • Apply the tools and techniques in the workplace
  • Lead and facilitate the roll out of lean improvement projects

Programme

Module 1 – Your role in Lean Implementation – 2 days

The programme introduces delegates to Lean, the concept of waste, the Lean kitbag, Lean in practice and the 20 keys of Lean.

Module 2 – Back to the Floor/Customer Shadowing – 2-4 days

This session involves delegates getting a close up view of the processes that they manage and allows them to gain feedback from the process, the people involved and customers on the receiving end (both internal and external).

Module 3 – Leading and Facilitating Lean Teams – 2 days

During this session delegates start to apply the tools and techniques of Lean, including the Lean Daily Management System® to attack both the leadership and surface wastes of their area.

Module 4 – Preparing the Pioneering Teams – 1 day

This final input session takes delegates through the implementation planning stage and includes success factors, roles and responsibilities, and time plan.

Methodology

The programme provides input on Lean philosophy, tools and techniques and allows delegates the opportunity to implement Lean through both practical exercises and work based projects.

Assessment

Assessment of Lean Leaders is measured by testing delegate’s knowledge throughout the programme, successful roll out of the projects, and facilitation of the teams.

Upon successful completion delegates will receive an ILM certificate for this endorsed award.

Target Audience

The Lean Implementation Leaders Programme is targeted at managers responsible for the delivery of significant organisational process improvement through managing teams and projects in Lean implementation.
